Fuel Prices Likely to Drop in Pakistan After Global Oil Price Decline

28 December, 2025 17:20

After a significant decline in global petroleum prices, Pakistan is likely to see a reduction in fuel prices at the start of the New Year.

In the international market, petrol prices have fallen sharply. The price per barrel of petrol dropped from $75.05 to $69.73, showing a decrease of $5.32 per barrel. As a result, the ex-refinery price of petrol in Pakistan has also declined by Rs 11 per litre. The current ex-refinery price stands at Rs 145.66 per litre, compared to Rs 156.66 recorded on December 15.

Diesel prices in the global market have also decreased. The price per barrel of diesel fell by $4.35, dropping from $84.27 to $79.92. Due to this reduction, the ex-refinery price of diesel in Pakistan decreased by Rs 9.57 per litre, falling from Rs 164.92 to Rs 155.35 per litre.

Officials say that keeping these international price trends in view, there is a strong possibility of a reduction in petroleum product prices in Pakistan at the beginning of the New Year. However, the final decision regarding fuel price adjustments will be made by the government.

Meanwhile, poultry prices have shown mixed trends across different cities, with sharp declines in some areas and steep increases in others.
