Pakistan banks to remain closed on January 1 - check details
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) will be closed to the public on January 1, 2026 (Thursday) due to a bank holiday.
All commercial banks, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs), and Microfinance Banks (MFBs) will also remain closed for public dealing on this day.
However, bank employees will still report to work for internal tasks such as clearing and accounting. January 1st is a mandatory annual bank holiday in Pakistan, but it is not a general public holiday. Most other businesses and government offices will remain open as usual.
