Azad Khan Takes Charge as AIG Karachi

In a major reorganization of the police leadership in the province, the Sindh government named Azad Khan as the next Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Karachi Police.

Javed Alam Odho, who was just named Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP), is replaced by Khan, a former AIG of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD).

A number of significant postings and transfers were also part of the reorganization. Zulfiqar Larik, an additional IG, was transferred from the Special Branch to the CTD. Iqbal Dara has been given extra responsibility for extra IG Operations, and Sharjeel Kharral has been assigned to Additional IG Operations Sindh.

Faisal Abdullah Chachar was named DIG Mirpurkhas, Parvaiz Chandio was appointed DIG Establishment, and DIG Nasir Aftab was given additional responsibility for DIG Sukkur.

The modifications come after Odho was recently promoted to Sindh IGP. Syed Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, congratulated the newly appointed provincial police head.

CM Murad emphasized that upholding peace and order throughout the province need to be a primary concern. He demanded that efforts against criminal groups be stepped up, especially in katcha areas.

The chief minister also emphasized the necessity of eradicating street crime in Karachi, claiming that it has a direct effect on people’ sense of security and public confidence.

In order to keep Karachi a safe and secure city for its residents, police leadership was instructed to guarantee that operations against criminals continue without any respite.
