Rana Sanaullah Emphasizes Public Service Over Political Power

04 January, 2026 19:12

Senator and Advisor to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah, stated that the core principle of Pakistan Muslim League (N) is “service-oriented politics,” a philosophy introduced by Mian Nawaz Sharif 40 years ago.

He explained that Nawaz Sharif promoted a culture of public service, development, and welfare in politics, with initiatives such as the Children’s Hospital in Faisalabad, universities, and other development projects serving as tangible evidence.

Rana Sanaullah emphasized that, “even after losing elections, public service continues,” and the party’s goal is not to attain power but to address the issues of all citizens without discrimination.

He criticized opponents for promoting political vendettas through social media, spreading hate, abusive language, and false cases, which, according to him, have fostered a culture of animosity among youth. Rana Sanaullah also shared that he faced a false case with a death penalty but endured hardships in jail for six to seven months, relying on patience and faith in the law.

He highlighted the principle of accountability, saying that wrongdoers must face consequences, and those punished should acknowledge their mistakes rather than portraying themselves as victims. “PML-N does not have an agenda of filing false cases against opponents,” he added, emphasizing that every voice—whether a party member, voter, or opponent—is given equal attention.

Regarding negative propaganda in the country, he stated it is baseless and urged media not to amplify it. He expressed confidence in overcoming economic challenges and the risk of default, noting that measures to provide relief in the upcoming budget have already been initiated.

Rana Sanaullah stressed that confrontation is not the party’s path; the focus remains on resolving public issues through dialogue and within the framework of law. He warned that politics based on violence or strikes will fail.

He also reaffirmed, “Pakistan is an Islamic state, and any opposition against the state will not be tolerated,” urging all citizens and political parties to act responsibly. According to him, public service is the foremost priority, and no punitive action will be taken against anyone for their voting choice—the quality of service should be such that citizens vote based on performance.
