Major Terror Attack Averted in Karachi, CTD Recovers Explosives

KARACHI: A major tragedy was averted in Karachi after a dangerous terrorist plot was exposed through the continuous monitoring of security institutions, according to Additional IG CTD Zulfiqar Larik.

During a high-level operation, DIG CTD Ghulam Azfar Mahesar confirmed that over 2,000 kg of explosives were recovered.

The operation began when premier intelligence agencies raided a secret location 40 km outside of Karachi where terrorists were actively preparing the explosives. While one terrorist was arrested during the initial raid, three to four others managed to escape.

Following the lead provided by the arrested suspect, raids were conducted at six additional locations across the city, resulting in the arrest of two more terrorists. Investigations revealed that the explosives had been transported from Balochistan via difficult mountainous routes.

The suspects, who belong to the banned BLA Majeed Brigade (Fitna-ul-Hindustan), intended to strike civilian targets within the city.

DIG Mahesar stated that the entire operation was planned from abroad; however, facilitators and handlers have now been identified, and the full terrorist network will be brought to justice.
