Strengthening Skies: Bangladesh and Pakistan Air Forces Deepen Defence Ties
January 6, 2026 – Islamabad: A high-level delegation from the Bangladesh Air Force visited Pakistan on Tuesday.
Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff of Pakistan, at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting focused on strengthening training, operational cooperation, and collaboration in aerospace technologies.
The visiting Air Chief was welcomed with a Guard of Honour. During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer briefed the delegation on PAF’s recent advancements. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to the Bangladesh Air Force with comprehensive training programs, ranging from basic flying to advanced and specialized courses. He also assured the fast delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, along with full training and long-term support.
Bangladesh expressed interest in benefiting from PAF’s operational expertise. Discussions included maintenance support for its aging fleet, integration of air defence radar systems, and possible procurement of JF-17 Thunder aircraft. The delegation visited key PAF facilities such as the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre, PAF Cyber Command, and the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, observing capabilities in ISR, cyber, space, electronic warfare, and unmanned systems.
The visit highlighted the historical ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh and reflected a shared commitment to deepening defence cooperation and building a long-term strategic partnership between the two air forces.
