Karachi to Iran Ferry Service: Check Ticket Prices and Schedule
Karachi has officially launched its first international ferry service at the East Wharf, opening a new travel option between Pakistan and Iran.
Passengers can now travel by sea from Karachi to Iran’s Chabahar Port. The first ferry is set to sail on January 20 with 246 passengers on board. This step is being seen as a big boost for Pakistan’s blue economy and maritime sector.
A New Chapter for Maritime Tourism
The government has also inaugurated a new ferry terminal that looks more like a modern airport than a traditional dock. All important checks, including immigration, customs, and narcotics clearance, will be completed at the terminal before boarding the ferry.
Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, said the project follows the vision of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal. He added that after waiting for decades, the first ferry service license was issued in just seven days, showing strong government support.
Ticket Price and Journey Details
The ticket price for the Karachi to Chabahar ferry service has been fixed at Rs50,000. Officials say this cost will be affordable for tourists and pilgrims, especially for those looking for a cheaper travel option compared to expensive flights.
Route, Timing, and Capacity
The ferry will travel from Karachi East Wharf to Chabahar Port in Iran. Ships will depart at 5:00 PM, and the journey will take around 16 hours. The service will operate twice a week, with each ferry carrying up to 246 passengers.
More Growth Expected
Officials revealed that four Chinese operators have already shown interest in joining Pakistan’s ferry sector. This competition could improve services and may even reduce ticket prices in the future.
Minister Chaudhry said Pakistan’s long coastline has huge tourism potential. He believes this ferry service is just the beginning of a new era for maritime tourism in the country.
