KP launches free laptop scheme 2026 for students – Check eligibility details

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has launched a free laptop scheme for special students studying in colleges, universities, and religious institutions across the province.

According to reports, the scheme is for visually impaired students who are permanent residents of KP and have a valid disability certificate issued by the Social Welfare Department. The main goal of this initiative is to help deserving students use modern technology to improve their education.

Laptops will be given on merit, and the distribution will depend on the availability of government funds. Officials say the scheme will support students in their studies and make learning easier and more accessible.

How to Apply

Students can apply through the government’s online Management Information System (MIS), available on the official website of the Social Welfare Department. Applications will be reviewed based on academic performance and merit.

A spokesperson from the Social Welfare Department said this step shows the KP government’s strong commitment to providing equal education opportunities for students with disabilities by giving them access to digital tools.

The scheme is part of wider efforts by the provincial government to support the disabled community, promote digital literacy, and encourage inclusive education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Education experts believe that laptops can greatly help visually impaired students by allowing them to use screen readers, assistive software, and online learning resources.

It is worth noting that the Punjab government has also launched a free laptop scheme for college and university students, showing a growing focus on digital education across the country.
