How to Update CNIC Photo Using Pak ID Mobile App Step by Step

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that citizens can now change or update the photograph on their Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) via the Pak ID mobile application.

According to NADRA, this digital initiative allows users to update their CNIC photos independently, eliminating the need to visit a registration center.

In response to a social media query about CNIC photo updates, NADRA clarified that users can log into their Pak ID account and select the “Update Card” option to submit a request for changing their CNIC photograph.

Guidelines for Capturing the Photograph:

NADRA has issued clear instructions for applicants to ensure their photos meet official standards:

• Tap “Capture” and choose either the front or back camera.
• Avoid shadows on the face; hair should be away from the eyes.
• No obstructions should cover the face.
• Use a plain white background with proper lighting, and remove glasses.
• Maintain a suitable distance so the face is fully visible.
• Men may wear a cap or turban as long as the face is unobstructed.
• Women may wear a hijab, but the face and chin must remain fully visible.
• Keep the face within the circular frame on the camera screen.
• Capture the photo when the on-screen circle turns green.
• Remain calm and steady while taking the photograph.

NADRA emphasized that this move is part of its broader effort to enhance convenience for citizens and expand access to digital services through the Pak ID app.
