Ishaq Dar Urges Urgent End to Gaza War to Permit Humanitarian Aid

11 January, 2026 11:54

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar has stated that urgent efforts are necessary to end the war in Gaza and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid.

Addressing an extraordinary meeting of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan strongly condemns Israel’s “illegal and unrealistic” actions. He described the Israeli Foreign Minister’s recent visit to Somaliland as deeply concerning.

He reaffirmed that Pakistan fully supports the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of Somalia. Under international law, he noted, the sovereignty of a state is paramount, and no external entity has the legal or moral right to undermine this reality.

The DPM further stated that the Israeli move constitutes a direct attack on Somalia’s internationally recognized borders and is a flagrant violation of international law and the UN Charter.

The Deputy Prime Minister warned that Israel’s actions could have serious repercussions for regional stability. He noted that Somalia has made significant progress in national reconciliation and constitutional reform, adding that strengthening state institutions and economic reforms remains a vital priority.

Ishaq Dar stressed the necessity of immediate action to end the conflict in Gaza and provide humanitarian assistance, affirming that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with the OIC and Arab nations to support the Palestinian right to self-determination.

He characterized the recent developments as a threat to peace and security in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea, noting that Pakistan has formally rejected the move in a joint statement with OIC member states.
