Six Policemen Martyred in IED Attack in KP’s Tank

TANK: An improvised explosive device (IED) struck an armored vehicle on Gomal Bazaar Road in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s (KP) Tank area on Monday, killing at least six police officers.

The armored vehicle was returning from the Gomal Police Station when it was wrecked by the explosion. Ishaq Khan, an additional Station House Officer (SHO), was one of the dead, according to the police.

Law officials arrived at the scene shortly after the occurrence, roped off the area, and began looking into the attack.

KP Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and President Asif Ali Zardari have all expressed their profound sadness over the police officers who lost their lives in a terrorist attack.

Both offered sincere condolences to the lost families and prayed for the eternal peace of the fallen souls in their respective comments today.

The most recent assault on police officers occurred one week after four police officers were killed in two separate shooting events in the districts of Lakki Marwat and Bannu in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa by unidentified attackers.

According to a police spokeswoman, three traffic police officers in Sarai Naurang city were killed after unidentified terrorists on motorcycles opened fire on them at Lakki Marwat.

In Bannu, a police constable was killed when unknown gunmen opened fire in the Mandan neighborhood. Constable Rashid Khan was attacked, according to the police, on his way from home to Mandan Police Station to report for duty.

Exactly one day earlier, eight terrorists were neutralized by KP police during combined operations with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) in various parts of the province on Sunday, thwarting a significant terror attempt.

The tribal districts of Bannu, Khyber, and Zahir Garhi—a suburb of Peshawar, the capital of KP—were the sites of the operations. In addition to recovering a sizable cache of guns and other equipment, the police said they had killed eight terrorists who had attacked the security personnel.
