Wheat prices increase by Rs700 across Punjab
Wheat prices have increased by Rs700 per maund across Punjab, including Lahore, during the last ten days.
According to reports, the price of wheat has gone up from Rs3,700 to Rs4,400 per maund. In Rawalpindi, wheat is being sold for as high as Rs4,800 per maund.
In Lahore, the wheat price has reached Rs4,450 per maund. At the same time, government-subsidized 10kg and 20kg flour bags are hard to find in many areas of the city. The price of a 15kg flour bag has increased from Rs1,500 to Rs1,750.
In other cities, wheat prices have also risen. Wheat is selling at Rs4,500 per maund in Gujranwala and Gujrat, Rs4,450 in Multan, and Rs4,400 in Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.
In Islamabad, the wheat price has reached around Rs4,400 per maund. Chairman of the Flour Mills Association, Asim Raza, said that a shortage of wheat has pushed prices up, which is also making flour more expensive.
