WEB DESK: During a meeting with members of the National Paigham-e-Aman (Message of Peace) Committee on Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of unity in combating terrorism and extremism through a powerful national narrative.

Attaullah Tarar, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, commended the committee’s attempts to foster harmony, stating that cooperation was crucial in the “war of narratives” against extremism and terrorism. In a brief amount of time, he claimed, the Paigham-e-Aman Committee had actively shaped the national narrative.

Tarar declared that the committee will spread the word of peace throughout the nation and that the government sees its efforts as a crucial component in fostering social cohesion.

Tahir Ashrafi, the chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, stated that the committee will work to uphold the government’s confidence and that its members will continue to lead the narrative fight against extremism. As part of these efforts, he declared that religious academics from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be gathered for a two-day meeting.

According to Ashrafi, the prime minister and the nation’s military leadership have made it very evident that maintaining peace in Pakistan is of utmost importance. He stated that religious academics greatly admired the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s military and that the group would also visit members of the armed forces and security establishments.

Similar opinions were expressed by other academics. Mufti Abdul Rahim stated that the committee will spread the message of peace throughout the nation, while Allama Raghib Naeemi stated that ulema honored the sacrifices made by the military forces. Allama Arif Hussain Wahidi emphasized the need for unity within the Muslim community and claimed that extremist elements had nothing to do with Islam.

Additionally, participants demanded that the Paigham-e-Pakistan story be included in the national curriculum. A number of speakers expressed confidence that Pakistan will become a birthplace of peace and claimed that the creation of the peace committee had deterred extremist elements.
