Punjab Excise to Register Vehicles from Other Provinces This Month

17 January, 2026 13:36

The Punjab government has announced a new system to allow vehicles registered in other provinces and the federal region to be easily transferred and registered in Punjab.

Under the proposed plan, vehicle owners can complete registration in Punjab by paying a nominal additional fee along with the prescribed transfer fee. An NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the province or federal region where the vehicle is currently registered will be required.

Once the NOC is obtained, excise officials will verify the online record and issue a new registration number for the vehicle in Punjab.

Excise Secretary Umar Sher Chatha stated that while a large number of vehicles use Punjab’s roads, the tax revenue currently goes to other provinces. “This new system will help Punjab generate additional revenue while providing convenience to vehicle owners,” he added.

He also confirmed that the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has developed specialized software to facilitate the process.

The inter-provincial vehicle transfer and registration system is set to be launched across Punjab later this month, aiming to streamline vehicle registration while boosting provincial revenue.
