How overseas Pakistanis can transfer vehicles without visiting the embassy
The Punjab government has decided to make vehicle transfer and ownership processes easier for overseas Pakistanis. The government is working with NADRA to introduce an online system for these services.
After the successful launch of the biometric system on the Pak ID app in Islamabad and Sindh, Punjab is now taking steps to integrate its excise system with NADRA. The Director General of Excise has reconnected with NADRA to speed up the process so that the facility becomes available in Punjab as soon as possible.
Online Vehicle Transfer Facility
The new system will let users verify vehicle details such as registration number, chassis number, and owner’s name using biometric authentication on the Pak ID app.
Previously, overseas Pakistanis had to send an authority letter certified by the embassy to Pakistan to transfer a vehicle, which was a long and complicated process.
Officials say the new biometric system will help prevent fraud and illegal transfers of vehicles registered under overseas Pakistanis. Right now, delays in verification mean that thousands of cars are running on open letters.
Authorities have confirmed that the integration between NADRA and the Punjab excise department is already complete. The biometric verification system will be available soon, making vehicle transfers faster and safer for overseas Pakistanis.
