State Bank Announces Decision to Keep Interest Rate Unchanged

Karachi: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced that it will keep the policy interest rate unchanged at 10.5 percent.

Governor of the State Bank said that the interest rate will remain at 10.5 percent for the next two months. The decision was made during the latest monetary policy announcement.

The SBP governor highlighted concerns over the economy, stating that exports are declining while imports are increasing, which is putting pressure on the country’s external account.

He also warned that inflation could rise above 7 percent in June, adding that inflationary risks remain despite some recent improvement.

The central bank said it will continue to closely monitor economic conditions and take necessary steps to maintain price stability and support economic growth.
