Defense Minister Blames KP Govt for Politicising Tirah Valley Issue

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif says that the welfare of the people of Tirah Valley is a priority.

Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, while holding a press conference along with federal ministers, said that during snowfall, migration occurs from valleys located on the Pak-Afghan border, and in Tirah Valley, migration also occurs every year due to snowfall.

He said that the provincial government has set aside funds of Rs 4 billion for the displaced people. The notification was issued after consultation with the provincial government and the jirga. An attempt is being made to portray the displacement as a crisis.

Khawaja Asif said that it was decided in the jirga that schools and police stations would be established in the area, the members of the jirga went to the outlawed TTP. He said that the welfare of the people of the Tirah Valley is a priority, this is also present in the Gazette of the British Raj.

The Defense Minister said that a jirga was held on December 11, which included 24 or 26 elders. The elders went to the banned TTP and said that we have to relocate. The same elders also met with the people of the province. According to the orders of the provincial government, there is a relocation package of Rs. 4 billion.

He said that this is an arrangement that was agreed upon between the jirga and the provincial government. It was agreed upon in the jirga that schools and police stations would be established in the area. This is not something unique.
