PM–PCB Meeting to Seal Pakistan’s ICCT T20 Fate

01 February, 2026 15:24

ISLAMABAD: A final decision is anticipated shortly on Pakistan’s participation in the ICCT T20 World Cup. An official declaration is anticipated following the meeting between Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi this evening.

According to reports, a backup plan, or “Plan B,” has been created in case Pakistan chooses not to take part. In order to ensure that players receive competitive exposure, the Pakistan Shaheens and U-19 teams could be split into four teams and compete in a home competition in Lahore.

The formal national team kit unveiling ceremony, which has been delayed due to uncertainties, will happen later if Pakistan decides to compete.

The Indian dugout has also taken notice of the impending match between India and Pakistan on February 15 in Colombo. When asked about the game in light of the present political unrest, former Indian captain Kapil Dev responded that it is inappropriate for past players to remark and that the authorities should make such delicate decisions.

He continued, emphasizing the need to refrain from making needless remarks, “I will support whatever decision is made by the relevant authorities.”

Fans and officials are currently awaiting the PCB’s final decision, which will decide Pakistan’s participation in this year’s major T20 cricket competition.
