UNSC Condemns Balochistan Terror Attacks, Urges Global Cooperation With Pakistan
The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has strongly condemned a series of deadly terrorist attacks in Pakistan’s Balochistan province and called for full international cooperation with Pakistan to combat terrorism and ensure accountability.
In an official statement issued on Tuesday, the UNSC described the attacks as “heinous and cowardly” and emphasized the urgent need to bring all those responsible — including perpetrators, planners, financiers, and sponsors — to justice under international law.
Deadly Attacks Across Balochistan
The condemnation follows a wave of coordinated attacks carried out by the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) across nearly a dozen locations in Balochistan. According to official reports, the attacks resulted in the deaths of 17 security personnel and 31 civilians, leaving dozens injured.
The scale and coordination of the attacks raised serious security concerns, prompting an immediate and large-scale response from Pakistan’s security forces.
Pakistan’s Counterterrorism Operation
In response to the violence, Pakistani security forces launched an extensive counterterrorism operation across the province. Security sources confirmed that 197 militants associated with India-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan were killed during the operation.
The militants were targeted after coordinated assaults struck 12 towns over a three-day period, highlighting what officials described as a well-planned terror campaign aimed at destabilizing the region.
UNSC Expresses Solidarity With Pakistan
“The Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for the attacks,” the UNSC statement said. Council members expressed deep condolences to the families of the victims and conveyed solidarity with the government and people of Pakistan, while wishing a swift and full recovery to those injured.
The UNSC reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations remains one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.
Call for Global Cooperation Against Terrorism
The Security Council urged all UN member states to actively cooperate with Pakistan, in line with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions, to counter terrorism effectively.
Council members stressed that terrorist acts are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of motive, location, timing, or ideology. They also reiterated the need for counterterrorism efforts to comply with the UN Charter, as well as international human rights, refugee, and humanitarian law.
