Defense Minister Vows Strong State Response to Islamabad Suicide Attack
Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, in response to the Islamabad suicide attack, has declared that the state will respond to this atrocity with full force. In a statement released via X, Khawaja Asif asserted that those who martyred worshippers in the mosque are enemies of both religion and the country. He further noted that evidence has proven the terrorist involved in the attack had traveled to Afghanistan.
The Defense Minister stated that a nexus is being uncovered between India and the Taliban, suggesting that the fabric of this alliance is becoming increasingly clear. He detailed that security guards challenged the attacker, who responded by opening fire before the suicide bomber eventually blew himself up in the last row of worshippers. Asif emphasized that India is now fighting a war through proxies after a humiliating defeat, claiming the country no longer has the courage to engage in a direct conflict.
It should be noted that 31 people were martyred and many others were injured in the suicide bombing during Friday prayers in the Tarlai area of Islamabad. According to police, the explosion took place at the Khadijat-e-Kubra Mosque and Imambargah. The suicide bomber detonated his explosives after being prevented from entering the main hall of the mosque. Eyewitnesses confirmed that gunshots were heard immediately preceding the explosion.
Following the blast, police, army, and Rangers personnel surrounded the area to secure the site. All the injured were transferred to PIMS and Polyclinic Hospital, and a state of emergency remains in effect across all major medical facilities in the capital to handle the influx of victims.
