Supreme Court Rejects PTI Lawyers’ Request for Immediate Meeting With Imran Khan

Triple Talaq Not Effective Without 90-Day Waiting Period: Supreme Court
The Supreme Court on Monday rejected a request by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers seeking an immediate meeting with party founder Imran Khan.
During the hearing, senior PTI lawyer Latif Khosa requested permission for legal representatives to meet Imran Khan without delay. However, Chief Justice Yahya Afridi turned down the plea, stating that such an order cannot be passed without issuing formal notices.
Court Says Legal Process Must Be Followed
Chief Justice Yahya Afridi remarked that the court must first address objections related to the maintainability of the petition. He reminded the counsel that several cases involving Imran Khan are already pending before other courts.
“We cannot issue any order regarding a meeting without serving notices,” the Chief Justice said during the proceedings.
The bench made it clear that bypassing legal procedure was not possible, regardless of the nature of the request.
Al-Qadir Trust Bail Petition Dismissed
In a separate development, the Supreme Court also dismissed Imran Khan’s bail petition in the Al-Qadir Trust case, declaring it ineffective.
The court noted that since the plea had become non-effective, there was no justification to continue hearing it.
Legal Challenges Continue
The rulings highlight ongoing legal challenges faced by the former prime minister, as multiple cases remain under consideration in various courts. PTI leaders have maintained that legal access to Imran Khan should be ensured, while the judiciary has emphasized adherence to due process.
