Islamabad: The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has arrested Zafar Iqbal, a government employee accused of spreading the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) and Fitna al-Hindustan narrative online.

Zafar Iqbal, who worked as a naib qasid (messenger) at Radio Pakistan, was removed from his position after an internal investigation revealed his involvement in posting 13 inflammatory messages on Facebook supporting banned terrorist organisations. According to NCCIA, he had obtained a stay order from the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC) but continued to share extremist content, prompting action under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The court approved a three-day physical remand for Zafar Iqbal to allow authorities to investigate further. Investigators are also analysing his digital devices and social media accounts to gather evidence.

The suspect was previously stationed at Radio Pakistan Quetta and came under scrutiny due to suspected ties with terrorist groups. The agency highlighted that the posts were provocative, anti-state, and posed a threat to national security.

This arrest demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to counter cyber terrorism and prevent the spread of extremist propaganda online. NCCIA continues to monitor social media platforms and take swift action against individuals violating cybercrime laws.
