QUETTA – The Balochistan government has announced the Basant festival in the capital city of Quetta, just days after Lahore celebrated the mega event.
Reports say that preparations for the event are in full swing. The city will come alive with kite flying, music, and a showcase of local cultural activities, promising a vibrant atmosphere for all attendees.
Markets are busy with the sale of kites, strings, and other Basant-related items, creating excitement among the locals.
Quetta Basant 2026 Dates
Authorities confirmed that the festival will be celebrated for three days, from February 13 to 15 (Friday to Sunday). Local shopkeepers reported a big increase in kite sales, with young people particularly excited for the event.
“The enthusiasm among the youth is incredible. Everyone is gearing up to make the most of this celebration,” said one local vendor.
A citizen added that festivals like Basant not only bring joy to the people but also help foster social harmony.
Some residents, however, urged officials to hold the event within legal and safe boundaries to avoid past negative incidents.
Organizers believe that the three-day celebration in Quetta could mark the beginning of a new cultural chapter, giving residents a chance to escape daily challenges and experience the joy and beauty of the festival.
