Will Lahore Host a Second Basant Festival in March 2026 After Eidul Fitr?

Lahore — February 2026: Just days after Lahore celebrated the return of Basant Festival 2026 for the first time in 25 years, rumors are growing that the city may host another Basant event in March, after Eidul Fitr.

The renewed speculation comes after the huge public response to the February festival, which attracted visitors from across Punjab and beyond.

Social Media Buzz Fuels Basant Hopes

Social media platforms are filled with discussions about a possible second Basant celebration. Many users claim that the Punjab government is considering another event due to the success of the first one.

While no official announcement has been made so far, expectations continue to rise among citizens and cultural groups.

Kite Association Supports Another Basant

The All Pakistan Kite Flying Association (APMBA) has shown strong support for holding Basant again in March. APMBA Patron-in-Chief Aqeel Malik said the February event proved that Basant can be organized safely and successfully.

He expressed optimism that another festival could be held with even better planning and stricter safety measures.

Rs20 Billion Economic Boost from First Event

During a press conference in Lahore, Aqeel Malik revealed that the Basant festival generated over Rs20 billion in economic activity. Local markets, transport services, hotels, and small businesses all benefited from the event.

He credited Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the government’s backing, calling it a key factor in reviving Lahore’s long-lost cultural tradition.

Massive Public Participation and Transport Management

According to APMBA, nearly 900,000 vehicles entered Lahore during the festival. Visitors came from different cities to take part in the celebrations.

Around 200,000 citizens used free public transport services, including the Orange Line Metro Train and Metro Bus, reflecting effective traffic and transport planning.

Strong Safety Measures Praised

Organizers highlighted the strict safety arrangements during Basant 2026. No kite string injury incidents were reported. Safety rods installed on motorcycles helped prevent accidents.

These measures played a major role in ensuring a safe and family-friendly environment.

Rumoured Dates for Basant Festival March 2026

Although official confirmation is still awaited, sources suggest that the second Basant festival could be held on:

• March 21 and 22, 2026, or

• March 28 and 29, 2026

Authorities are expected to clarify plans after Eidul Fitr.
