Passenger Mirza Nouman Saeed jumps from Islamabad airport’s level 2 in escape attempt
Islamabad, February 12, 2026 — A passenger, Mirza Nouman Saeed from Rawalpindi, was seriously injured after attempting to escape from Islamabad International Airport by jumping from Level 2.
The incident occurred when Saeed, held in the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) holding area, pretended to go to the restroom before leaping from the level. He fell near Belt Number 2, sustaining significant injuries.
Immediate Medical Response
The airport’s PIA medical team responded promptly and provided initial treatment before transferring him to the trauma center. Saeed was later moved to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for further medical care.
FIA Considers Changes to Deportee Handling
Following the incident, FIA officials indicated a potential policy shift regarding Pakistani citizens deported from abroad for illegal migration attempts. The change aims to strengthen efforts against human trafficking networks operating in the country.
Under the proposed policy, deported individuals will be recognized as victims only if they fully cooperate with authorities. Cooperation would include providing detailed information about smugglers and networks that facilitated their illegal migration.
Authorities noted that automatically treating deportees as victims has, in some cases, allowed them to reconnect with traffickers. Those who do not provide information could be investigated as suspects instead. Several FIA regional offices have reportedly supported these changes, suggesting implementation is likely soon.
The proposed revisions follow several tragic migration incidents, including the December 2024 boat disaster near Greece’s Gavdos island, where multiple Pakistani migrants lost their lives.
