Pakistan Army Technical Officers Likely to Join NCCIA
KARACHI: Officers from the Pakistan Army’s Technical Wing are set to be posted to the National Cybercrime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
In a letter addressed to the Federal Interior Minister dated December 2, 2025, the Director General of the NCCIA highlighted the growing need for technical expertise in cybercrime investigation and digital forensics. The letter noted that the NCCIA is currently strengthening its operational capacity across its headquarters and zonal offices.
According to the correspondence, engaging highly skilled technical staff is imperative to effectively counter modern, complex cyber threats and provide robust technical support for investigative operations. The DG stated that the Pakistan Army’s Technical Wing possesses the specific expertise, discipline, and experience required to meet the NCCIA’s operational needs.
The NCCIA has requested the services of eight technical officers from the Army’s Technical Wing for a two-year period. The proposed distribution includes two officers for NCCIA Headquarters, two for the Lahore Zone, two for the Karachi Zone, and one each for the Peshawar and Quetta Zones.
These officers will be stationed within departments focusing on digital forensics, cyber intelligence, and network security. Per government regulations, the NCCIA will bear all costs related to their salaries, allowances, and administrative matters.
Following this request, the Ministry of Interior contacted the Ministry of Defense. In its response, the Ministry of Defense confirmed that the matter is under consideration following consultations with relevant departments. To proceed further, the Ministry of Defense has requested additional details, including a formal introduction to the institution, specific deployment locations, and the required ranks and educational qualifications for the designated officers.
