Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Historic Visit to Austria

Vienna: At the invitation of Federal Chancellor Christian Stocker, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Vienna for a landmark two-day official visit. This trip marks a significant milestone in bilateral relations, as it is the first visit by a Pakistani Prime Minister to Austria in over three decades. According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, the visit comes at a momentous time, as both nations celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations.

During the visit, Prime Minister Sharif and Chancellor Stocker will hold delegation-level talks to review the entire spectrum of bilateral ties. The two leaders are also scheduled to co-chair a high-level meeting with prominent business leaders to explore new avenues for economic collaboration. As part of his economic agenda, the prime minister will address the Pakistan-Austria Business Forum, highlighting the potential for increased trade and investment between the two countries.

In addition to bilateral engagements, the Prime Minister will deliver a special address on “Sustainable Development, Global Peace, and Prosperity” at a United Nations-hosted event in Vienna. His itinerary also includes a high-profile meeting with Rafael Grossi, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to discuss international cooperation on the peaceful uses of nuclear technology.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the Minister for Information, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi. The Foreign Office emphasizes that this visit is of utmost importance, as it is expected to add new dimensions to the partnership and foster a deeper, more comprehensive relationship between Pakistan and Austria.
