Over 80 TTP Militants Killed in Pakistan’s Airstrikes on Afghan Hideouts

More than 80 militants affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in Pakistan’s intelligence-based airstrikes conducted earlier in Afghanistan, according to security sources.

The strikes targeted militant hideouts in the Afghan provinces of Nangarhar Province, Paktika Province, and Khost Province. Officials confirmed that the casualties, described as members of “Fitna al-Khawarij,” may rise as damage assessments continue.

Seven militant centres linked to the TTP were destroyed during the operation, including New Centre No.1 and No.2 in Nangarhar, Molvi Abbas Centre in Khost, Islam Centre and Ibrahim Centre in Nangarhar, and Mullah Rahbar and Mukhlis Yar Centres in Paktika.

Security sources said the operation was carried out based on credible intelligence regarding militant presence and activities in the border regions, adding that further details may emerge as verification continues.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif had suggested that action against militants in Afghanistan could be taken before the start of Ramadan. He said, “While delays in addressing security threats are costing the country heavily, Pakistan remains open to dialogue, but it cannot accept a situation in which talks are followed by attacks on its territory.”

The minister also noted that Afghan counterparts have only offered verbal assurances on security and that regional stability could improve if neighbouring countries jointly guaranteed peace in Afghanistan, potentially enabling financial assistance frameworks.
