Eid ul Fitr 2026 in Pakistan: Is a 4-Day Public Holiday Expected?
Pakistan has started preparing for Eid ul Fitr 2026 as the holy month of Ramadan begins. The first fast was observed on Thursday, February 19. Now, people across the country are waiting for the official announcement of Eid.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will soon confirm the exact date of Eid ul Fitr 2026 in Pakistan. According to astronomical experts, there are two possible dates for Eid this year.
If Ramadan completes 29 days, Eid ul Fitr will be celebrated on Friday, March 20. However, most experts believe Ramadan will last 30 days, which means Eid is likely to fall on Saturday, March 21. This small difference can change the holiday schedule.
The government usually announces three public holidays for Eid celebrations. This year, the situation is special. If Eid falls on March 21, the holidays will connect with March 23, which is Pakistan Day. Pakistan Day is celebrated every year on March 23. If the dates match, people may enjoy a four-day long weekend.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on March 19 to sight the Shawwal moon and make the final decision. Until then, markets in cities like Karachi and Lahore are already busy with shopping. Families are buying clothes, gifts, and sweets to prepare for the big day.
People are also reminded to pay their Zakat al-Fitr before Eid prayers so that everyone can take part in the celebrations.
The final announcement for Eid ul Fitr 2026 is expected soon, and the excitement is growing across the country.
