Yasmin Rashid Appeals to Supreme Court Against Nawaz Sharif’s Election Victory

24 February, 2026 19:36

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid has filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the recent electoral victory of Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif.

In her appeal, she contested the decision of the Election Tribunal, stating that “the tribunal dismissed the petition on technical grounds and did not properly examine the facts and law.”

The petitioner argued that changes in Form 45 were inconsistent with constitutional requirements for free and transparent elections, and that issuing notices to candidates while preparing the final results was a legal obligation that was not fulfilled.

The appeal further stated that “not issuing any notice during the preparation of results violates fundamental legal requirements.”

Dr. Yasmin Rashid has requested the Supreme Court to nullify the Election Tribunal’s decision and declare her the winning candidate.

This development has sparked renewed debate in political circles, with experts suggesting that the case could raise significant constitutional issues in the higher judiciary.
