SIFC Plays Key Role in Strengthening Pakistan-Saudi Arabia Relations

Islamabad, February 25, 2026 – Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are taking their economic and defense relations to a new level. The move follows a joint defense agreement signed three months ago, and now both countries are preparing a strategic deal to further boost economic cooperation.

Saudi Ambassador Highlights Growing Relations

Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, confirmed the ongoing progress. He said both nations are closely working on a strategic economic project. According to the ambassador, this project will be vital for the economies of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

“Three months ago, we signed a joint defense agreement. Now we are preparing another strategic plan that will strengthen economic cooperation and mutual growth,” he added.

Economic Cooperation Framework Agreed

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have also agreed to launch a formal economic cooperation framework. This framework will focus on increasing trade and investment between the two nations.

Key sectors included in this framework are:

• Energy

• Industry

• Mining

• Information Technology (IT)

• Tourism

• Agriculture

• Food security

Both countries aim to develop long-term projects that support mutual growth and stability.

Major Projects Already in Progress

A major achievement so far includes the signing of a memorandum of understanding for an international electricity connection project.

Over the past few years, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed 34 memoranda of understanding (MoUs). These agreements cover projects worth USD 2.8 billion.

Role of SIFC in Strengthening Ties

The Saudi Investment and Finance Corporation (SIFC) has played a key role in enhancing Pakistan-Saudi relations. SIFC has supported both defense and economic collaborations, helping to build trust and open new investment opportunities.

With these efforts, both countries are on track to strengthen strategic, economic, and defense partnerships in the coming years.
