Lahore, February 26, 2026 — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved a new province-wide policy titled “One Punjab, One Standard,” aimed at introducing uniform standards for public infrastructure and civic design across Punjab.

The decision was taken during a special meeting chaired by the chief minister, where officials discussed the establishment of an autonomous authority to oversee standardisation and urban planning.

An in-principle agreement was reached to create a dedicated standardisation and design unit to supervise implementation of uniform development models.

Officials briefed the meeting that a comprehensive standardised design manual will be prepared. The policy will introduce uniform designs for roads, green belts, signboards, footpaths, roadside kiosks and small shop cabins across the province.

Standard designs will also be implemented for schools, hospitals, bus stops and other public buildings. The government says the move will improve urban planning, ensure visual consistency and enhance service delivery in cities.

Speaking at the meeting, Maryam Nawaz said the aim is to make every city in Punjab attractive and well-organised. She said uniform infrastructure and road furniture would strengthen the identity and visual appeal of urban centres.

In a separate development, the chief minister was seen preparing tea at a roadside stall during her visit to Murree via the Murree Expressway. The brief stop was widely shared on social media.
