Pakistan Marks 7th Anniversary of Operation Swift Retort

Islamabad, February 27, 2026: Pakistan’s Armed Forces commemorated the 7th anniversary of Operation Swift Retort on Friday.

Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of military personnel.

Operation Swift Retort was launched on 27 February 2019. It was a decisive response to India’s unprovoked aggression, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.

The operation demonstrated the readiness, professionalism, and operational excellence of the Armed Forces, successfully deterring further threats and maintaining strategic balance in the region.

Armed Forces Reaffirm Commitment to National Security

During the ceremony, the Field Marshal and Service Chiefs emphasized Pakistan’s vigilance against all threats. They highlighted the Armed Forces’ role in ensuring national security and regional peace, while also contributing to global stability.

“The courage and professionalism displayed during Operation Swift Retort remain a source of pride for the nation,” said the Chief of Army Staff. “Our forces are fully prepared to respond to any challenge that threatens Pakistan’s sovereignty.”

The anniversary also serves as a reminder of the dedication of Pakistani military personnel, who continue to protect the country and support peace efforts both domestically and internationally.
