Islamabad Extends Motorcycle M-Tag Deadline Until March 5, 2026

Islamabad Makes M-Tag Mandatory for Motorcycles From February 20
The Islamabad administration has extended the deadline for the mandatory installation of M-Tags on motorcycles. The previous deadline was set to end on February 28. However, authorities have now given citizens more time to complete the process.
The announcement was made by Islamabad Deputy Commissioner and Director General Excise, Irfan Nawaz Memon. He said the decision was taken after requests from the public.
New Deadline for Motorcycle Owners
According to the updated notice, motorcycle owners in the federal capital can now install their M-Tags until March 5, 2026.
Officials said this extension will help people who were unable to complete the process earlier due to rush or other issues.
Irfan Memon urged all bike owners to complete the installation before the new deadline. He warned that legal action may be taken after March 5 against those who fail to comply.
Revised Timings During Ramadan
As the holy month of Ramadan is approaching, the authorities have also changed the working hours of M-Tag centers.
Some centers will now operate 24 hours. Others will work in 12-hour and 8-hour shifts. This step has been taken to make the process easier for citizens during fasting hours.
Officials said these flexible timings will reduce crowd pressure and speed up the registration work.
Latest Registration Data
According to official figures:
8,928 motorcycles have already been fitted with M-Tags.
2,069 motorcycles were tagged in the last 24 hours alone.
238,080 vehicles in total have received M-Tags so far.
The numbers show that the campaign is moving forward at a steady pace.
Purpose of the M-Tag System
Authorities say the M-Tag system is aimed at improving traffic monitoring and public safety in Islamabad. It will also help law enforcement agencies track vehicles more effectively.
Officials added that separate registration processes for bikes and online taxis are continuing without interruption.
The administration has appealed to the public to cooperate. They said timely compliance will help avoid fines and ensure smoother travel across the city.
