Pakistan Made Great Sacrifices for Afghanistan, Says Tariq Fazal Chaudhry in National Assembly
During a session of the National Assembly of Pakistan in Islamabad, Federal Minister Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated that Pakistan has made significant sacrifices for Afghanistan over the decades.
Addressing the House, he said, “Pakistan has made great sacrifices for Afghanistan.” He further emphasized that Pakistan had hosted millions of Afghan refugees for decades, adding, “Pakistan hosted millions of Afghan refugees for decades.”
Highlighting historical ties, the minister remarked, “In the past, our sympathies have always been with Afghanistan.” He noted that Pakistan consistently supported its neighboring country during difficult times.
However, raising concerns about the current security situation, Tariq Fazal Chaudhry stated, “Since the arrival of the Afghan Taliban regime, more than 8,500 martyrdoms have occurred.” He linked the rise in violence to regional instability following political changes in Afghanistan.
The minister also expressed serious concern over cross-border security issues, saying, “Afghan soil is being used against Pakistan.” His remarks underscored Islamabad’s position regarding security challenges allegedly emanating from across the border.
The statements came amid ongoing discussions about Pakistan-Afghanistan relations, regional security, and counterterrorism efforts. The debate reflects growing concern within Pakistan’s parliament regarding border management and diplomatic engagement with Kabul.
