Ramadan gas supply schedule changed due to LNG shortages

05 March, 2026 21:20

KARACHI – Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced changes to the gas supply schedule for Ramadan due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East, which have disrupted LNG imports.

According to reports, SSGC will follow last year’s Ramadan schedule. Gas supply for Iftar will be available from 3:00 pm to 9:30 pm, while for Sehri it will run from 3:00 am to 9:00 am. Officials said the revised schedule will be officially announced soon.

Karachi is currently facing a severe gas crisis, partly due to LNG import disruptions from Qatar, reportedly linked to tensions between the US and Iran.

Several areas of the city, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Scheme 33, Jamshed Road, Shadman Town, Nishtar Road, Martin Quarters, Jahangir Road, Amil Colony, Lasbela, and parts of Korangi, have experienced extended gas load shedding for the second consecutive day.

This comes despite earlier government plans to provide uninterrupted gas supply from 3:00 am to 10:00 pm during Ramadan.
