Islamabad Traffic Advisory: Key Roads Closed on 6 March 2026, Plan Your Commute

ISLAMABAD, March 6, 2026: The Islamabad Capital Territory police have announced major road closures and traffic diversions in the Red Zone on Friday to ensure smooth movement during upcoming events and for security reasons.

Authorities said only Margalla Road and routes leading to the Marriott Hotel will remain open for access to the Red Zone. All other entry points to the area will be temporarily closed.

Roads Closed and Traffic Diversions

  • Fazal Haq Road: Kalsoom Plaza towards China Chowk will remain closed. Commuters are advised to take Jinnah Avenue as an alternative route.

  • Luqman Hakim Road: Vehicles traveling towards Polyclinic from Lal Quarter Chowk will face diversions. President Road is suggested as an alternate path.

  • G-6 to F-6: Commuters are advised to use China Chowk underpass or Seventh Avenue to reach Jinnah Avenue.

  • Abpara Chowk to Serena Hotel via Suhrawardy Road: Traffic will be diverted. Vehicles from Club Road should follow Kashmir Chowk via Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road.

  • Bhara Kahu: Drivers should also use the Kashmir Chowk route through Srinagar Highway, Seventh Avenue, and Margalla Road.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra travel time due to these closures.

Police Advisory

The Islamabad police warned that strict monitoring will be in place in the Red Zone and surrounding areas. Officers will guide traffic at key junctions to prevent congestion. Commuters are advised to avoid restricted roads unless absolutely necessary.

Security personnel will also be deployed at all entry points to ensure smooth movement and safety.
