At least six people, including a woman, lost their lives in multiple traffic accidents across Karachi on Sunday.

According to rescue officials, one person died in an accident near the SITE Siemens roundabout, while another was killed after being struck by a car on Orangi’s Banaras Bridge.

In a separate incident, a collision between a dumper and a rickshaw claimed the life of a woman and left three others injured. Heavy traffic continued to take its toll when a water tanker hit and killed a pedestrian in Manghopir.

Elsewhere, a truck collided with a motorcycle, killing the rider instantly and injuring a woman and two young girls. Finally, on Mauripur Road, a vehicle struck a pedestrian, who died at the scene.

Earlier this year, until February, reckless traffic incidents had claimed the lives of 163 people in Karachi, including children, women, and men. According to Rescue Karachi, 56 of these fatalities occurred in heavy traffic accidents. The death toll included 114 men, 22 women, and 27 children, while over 1,650 others were injured.

Trailers were responsible for the highest number of deaths, claiming 31 lives, followed by water tankers with 11, dumpers with 3, buses with 6, and Mazda vehicles with 4. Rescue officials warned that violations of traffic rules, over-speeding, and uncontrolled use of heavy vehicles are causing daily deaths.
