The Pakistan Navy has launched “Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr,” aimed at safeguarding the country’s maritime interests and ensuring the protection of energy transmission routes.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation’s primary objective is to counter threats to national shipping and secure vital maritime energy supplies.

In response to the growing maritime security challenges in the region and potential threats to critical sea lanes, the Pakistan Navy has initiated Operation Muhafiz-ul-Bahr to protect national shipping and maritime trade. The operation is focused on countering multidimensional threats that may disrupt the flow of vital energy supplies and the security of Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs).

The Pakistan Navy is conducting PN Escort operations in close collaboration with the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC). Fully aware of the current maritime situation, the Navy is closely monitoring and managing the movement of merchant vessels to ensure their safe and secure transit.

With about 90% of Pakistan’s trade reliant on sea routes, the operation is aimed at safeguarding these vital sea lanes, ensuring their security and uninterrupted flow. Currently, Pakistan Navy ships are escorting two merchant vessels, one of which is expected to arrive in Karachi today.

“Pakistan Navy remains fully prepared to respond to emerging maritime security challenges and is committed to ensuring the safety of national shipping and regional maritime security.”

This initiative highlights the Navy’s continuous efforts to protect the nation’s economic interests and ensure maritime stability in the region.
