11 March, 2026 09:01

Pakistan is observing Youm-e-Ali, the martyrdom anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA), with deep religious devotion. Processions and mourning gatherings are taking place in major cities across the country under strict security arrangements.

Authorities have implemented a nationwide security plan to ensure the safety of mourners participating in religious events.

Main Procession Held in Karachi

In Karachi, the central procession began after a mourning gathering at Nishtar Park.

Large numbers of mourners attended the assembly before joining the main procession.

The procession passed through several traditional routes and concluded at Husainiya Iranian Imam Bargah in the Kharadar area.

To maintain security, authorities blocked multiple roads near the Saddar area with containers. Traffic restrictions were also imposed along the procession route.

Processions in Rawalpindi and Peshawar

Religious processions were also organized in other major cities.

In Rawalpindi, the central procession ended at Imam Bargah Colonel Maqbool.

Meanwhile, in Peshawar, the procession concluded at Imam Bargah Syed Alam Shah after passing through the historic Qissa Khwani Bazaar area.

Thousands of people joined these gatherings to pay tribute to Hazrat Ali (RA).

Government Reviews Security Arrangements

Ziaul Hasan Lanjhar, the Interior Minister of Sindh, personally reviewed the security arrangements and procession route in Karachi.

He directed officials to maintain extraordinary security measures throughout the day.

Authorities said law enforcement agencies have remained on high alert to prevent any untoward incident.

Federal Government Coordinates with Scholars

Mohsin Naqvi, the Federal Interior Minister, held a meeting with prominent Shia scholars from across the country.

The discussion focused on administrative arrangements and security measures for Youm-e-Ali events.

Officials decided that all processions on the day would conclude before the Maghrib prayer. The duration of other gatherings was also reduced as a precaution.

The minister thanked religious scholars for their support and urged them to promote unity and harmony in the current national environment.

Thousands of Police Deployed in Karachi

Security officials said extensive arrangements were made in Karachi for the central procession.

Under the supervision of Azad Khan, Additional Inspector General of Police Karachi, a detailed security plan was implemented across the city.

More than 5,200 police personnel were deployed for the event.

The force included 19 SSPs and SPs, 53 DSPs, over 4,200 head constables, and 142 female police officers.

Authorities said these measures were taken to ensure the procession is conducted peacefully and safely.

Scholars Assure Cooperation

During the meeting with government officials, religious scholars assured full cooperation in maintaining peace.

They said any attempt to create division or disturb harmony would be rejected by the community.

Officials expressed hope that unity and coordination between authorities and scholars will help ensure a peaceful observance of Youm-e-Ali across Pakistan.
