In Karachi, police have confiscated a statue believed to depict a satanic figure after videos of the effigy circulated widely on social media. The statue, which showed a human male body with a bull’s head in a seated position, was seized from Mehran Town in the Korangi Industrial Area late Wednesday night.
A senior police officer, speaking anonymously, confirmed the action, stating that the statue was intended to be burned during a rally marking Youm Al Quds in Karachi. Despite the seizure, no arrests have been made, and no case has been registered regarding the incident at this time.
The statue gained considerable attention on social media due to its striking and unusual appearance. The police intervention was prompted by concerns over the symbolic nature of the effigy and its role in the planned public event.
This incident brings to mind a similar controversy in 2019 when a large sculpture, described as “satanic,” was displayed at the Lahore Museum. The 20-foot-high artwork, which many believed depicted the devil, sparked public outrage and was ultimately removed from the museum following significant backlash.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the statue’s origin or the individuals responsible for its creation and planned display. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
