Pakistan Revises Passport Office Timings Under Fuel-Saving Policy

Passport office timings announced for Ramadan 2026
The government of Pakistan has revised the working hours of passport offices across the country as part of a fuel-saving policy and austerity measures. The new schedule has been issued by the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports and will apply nationwide.
According to the official notification, passport offices will now operate four days a week from Monday to Thursday. Offices will remain closed from Friday to Sunday under the new policy.
Government Introduces Four-Day Work Week
Officials said the change is part of the government’s broader strategy to reduce fuel consumption and cut operational costs. By limiting the working days, authorities expect a decrease in commuting and lower energy usage in government offices.
The revised schedule has been approved by the Director General of the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. Authorities said the decision was taken after reviewing different measures to support national energy conservation efforts.
24-Hour Passport Offices to Remain Open
Despite the new schedule, some regional passport offices that currently provide 24-hour services will continue operating without interruption. These offices will maintain their existing services to ensure that citizens can still access urgent passport processing when needed.
Swift Service Centres Not Affected
The government also clarified that Swift Service Centres will continue operating under their current shift system. Their schedules will remain unchanged to ensure smooth passport processing and avoid disruption in routine services.
Officials said the revised passport office timings aim to balance public service delivery with energy-saving goals. Citizens are advised to check the updated schedule and plan their visits accordingly.
