Rawalpindi Traffic Police Introduce Special Ramazan Traffic Plan for Last Ashra

16 March, 2026 08:36

Monday, March 16, 2026: The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has launched a special traffic management plan for the last Ashra of Ramazan to handle the expected rush of shoppers in markets and commercial areas across Rawalpindi.

Officials said the plan has been introduced to reduce traffic congestion and help citizens move easily during the busy days before Eid shopping.

Extra Traffic Wardens Deployed in Markets

According to a spokesperson for the traffic police, the arrangements were made on the instructions of Farhan Aslam, the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Rawalpindi.

Under the new Ramazan traffic plan, additional traffic wardens have been deployed on important roads, commercial centers, and busy bazaars.

These locations usually experience heavy traffic during the final ten days of Ramazan when thousands of people visit markets to buy clothes, shoes, and Eid gifts.

Office Staff Assigned Field Duties

The traffic police have also assigned office staff to field duties in shifts. These officers will continue working until Eid to help control traffic and assist road users.

Officials believe this move will improve traffic flow and reduce problems faced by shoppers and drivers.

CTO Farhan Aslam said the last ten days of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak always bring a large number of people to markets.

He explained that the extra deployment is necessary to manage the sudden increase in vehicles and visitors.

More Than 800 Traffic Officers on Duty

According to the traffic department, more than 800 traffic officers and wardens are currently performing duties across Rawalpindi.

These officers are working round the clock to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety.

Traffic wardens have been placed on major roads, intersections, and crowded market areas where traffic jams usually occur.

Special Squads Monitoring Violations

The CTO said special squads are also active across the city. Their job is to prevent traffic violations and maintain road discipline.

These squads are focusing on:

  • Preventing dangerous one-wheeling

  • Controlling illegal parking

  • Reducing road accidents

  • Monitoring traffic congestion in markets

Authorities say strict action will be taken against those who violate traffic rules.

Citizens Asked to Cooperate with Traffic Police

The Rawalpindi traffic chief has requested citizens to cooperate with traffic wardens during the busy Ramazan shopping days.

He urged people to follow traffic rules, avoid parking in restricted areas, and remain patient while traveling to markets.

Officials say public cooperation will play an important role in keeping traffic smooth and safe during the last Ashra of Ramazan.
