DG ISPR Rejects Civilian Casualty Claims, Says Kabul Strike Targeted Taliban Weapons and Drone Depot
Pakistan’s military spokesperson, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, has issued a detailed clarification regarding the recent strike in Kabul, stating that the operation specifically targeted Afghan Taliban military assets.
According to the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), “The primary target of the recent attack in Kabul was Afghan Taliban ammunition and weapons.” He further added, “A Taliban drone depot was also among the targets in the recent strike.”
Explaining the intensity of the explosions, he said, “The blasts seen across the city were caused by the detonation of stored ammunition.” He emphasized that the widespread impact was due to the presence of large quantities of explosive material at the site.
Rejecting reports of civilian casualties, the DG ISPR termed such claims as false propaganda, stating, “The reports of civilian deaths in this attack are baseless and untrue.” He maintained that the operation did not intentionally target non-combatants.
He also highlighted the operational tactics of Taliban fighters, noting, “Many Taliban fighters do not wear uniforms and instead operate in civilian clothing.” According to him, this makes it difficult to distinguish between militants and civilians in conflict zones.
Additionally, he raised concerns about the methods used by militant groups, alleging, “The Taliban have been known to use drug-addicted individuals for suicide attacks.”
The statement comes at a time of heightened regional tensions and increased global attention on security developments in Afghanistan, particularly following recent incidents in Kabul.
