Government Issues New Attendance Guidelines Amid Austerity Drive in Public Offices

The government of Pakistan has issued new instructions for attendance in government offices under the Prime Minister’s austerity campaign.

New Attendance Policy

According to the notification, starting March 24, 50% of officers and staff will report to duty for the entire week.

The remaining 50% of employees will follow a rotation policy and attend duty on alternate days.

The Establishment Division has further stated that the alternate-day employees will report from March 30 to April 2, 2026. Officials have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the new instructions.

Updated Office Hours

The government has also announced new office hours after Ramadan:

• 5-day offices: Open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with a lunch and prayer break from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM.

• 6-day offices: Open from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The new timings will take effect immediately after Eid ul-Fitr 2026.
