Pakistan Enters 5G Era with New Spectrum Launch

Driven by the effective strategy of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), a new era of 5G spectrum and digital transformation has begun in Pakistan. More than 300 5G sites are already active across the country, with services launched in major cities and key strategic locations.

Currently, 180 5G sites operated by Jazz and 150 sites by Zong are functional, supporting 5G services across 2,254 devices spanning 103 mobile brands. The Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA) has hailed the launch of 5G technology as a revolutionary milestone for the nation. The association highly commended the collective efforts of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of IT, SIFC, and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) for the successful 5G auction.

According to Advisor to the Finance Minister Khurram Shahzad, the 5G spectrum will significantly enhance both the speed and quality of internet services in Pakistan. He noted that three major entities—Etisalat, China Mobile, and the Veon Group—invested over $500 million during the auction process. Furthermore, Jazz (under the Veon Group) has announced an additional investment of $1 billion in Pakistan over the next three years.

This sustained influx of local and global investment serves as clear evidence of the country’s economic recovery and long-term stability.
