Eid ul Adha 2026 Date: Pakistan Likely to Get 5-Day Midweek Holidays

30 March, 2026 12:34

Eid ul Adha 2026 in Pakistan is expected to be celebrated on Wednesday, May 27. The exact date will be confirmed after the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announces the sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon, likely on the evening of May 17 or 18.

If the dates remain as expected, people in Pakistan will enjoy a long five-day holiday. Public holidays will be from May 27 to May 29, followed by the weekend on May 30 and 31. This means many employees will get time off from Wednesday to Sunday.

Eid ul Adha will be observed from May 27 to May 29. Youm-e-Takbeer will fall on the second day of Eid, making the holidays even more special.

Preparations for Eid have already started across the country. Livestock markets have begun opening soon after Eid ul Fitr. In big cities like Karachi and Lahore, traders have brought animals earlier than usual.

However, animal prices are higher this year, with an increase of around 15 to 20 percent due to rising fodder costs. Many families are already buying animals early and keeping them at home.

Farmers are offering different types of animals, including bulls, Kamori goats, and Gulabi bakras. The trend of early buying and selling is continuing this year as well.

The official Eid holidays notification will be issued by the Interior Ministry about a week after the moon sighting is confirmed.
