Iran Executes Two MKO Members Over Terror Charges
Two members of the terrorist Mujahedeen-e Khalq Organization (MKO) were put to death for their active participation in terrorist attacks and attempts to kill police officers during the riots that were sparked by foreigners throughout Iran in January.
After their convictions were upheld by Iran’s Supreme Court and completed through the judicial system, Akbar Daneshvarkar and Mohammad Taghavi-Sangdehi were executed on Monday morning.
The court files state that the offenders committed acts of terror, attempted to kill police officers, and were recruited by the MKO using the Telegram messaging app.
In an attempt to compromise Iran’s national security, Taghavi-Sangdehi established a terror cell, investigated and identified the nation’s key sites, and carried out operations against state institutions based on available records, evidence, and his clear confession.
He established terror teams with funding from the infamous anti-Iranian terrorist organization.
During this time, Daneshvarkar actively participated in anti-establishment riots and occasionally attempted to kill law enforcement officers.
From his hiding place, Iranian security forces seized explosives, flammable liquids, and improvised launchers.
The late tyrant Saddam Hussein welcomed and equipped MKO members throughout their lengthy stay in Iraq.
They supported Saddam throughout the imposed war against Iran in 1980–1988 and later assisted him in quelling unrest within the Arab country.
Following the Islamic Revolution’s victory in 1979, the terrorist group killed thousands of Iranians, the majority of whom were civilians, in various acts of terror, including explosions in public areas and targeted executions.
