Oil prices drop as Strait of Hormuz reopens
Pakistan’s gearing up for a whopping fuel price spike, with petrol maybe shooting up 100 PKR per liter any day now, thanks to skyrocketing global oil costs. Top newspapers say the government’s about to slap those extra expenses right onto everyday folks.
Right now, local petrol’s running about 100 PKR under what it costs to import, and diesel’s even more off – over 200 PKR cheap. To fix that, expect a big jump soon, piling onto bills while inflation’s already biting. It’ll kick in after the official word drops.
Blame part of it on Middle East flare-ups pushing crude higher. Last month alone, petrol went from 258.17 PKR to 321.17 PKR – that’s 63 PKR up. High-speed diesel climbed 60.16 PKR to 335.86 PKR from 275.70 PKR.
If it happens, it’d be one of the biggest monthly fuel hikes in ages, hitting wallets hard. Stock up or budget tight – the announcement’s coming.
