Bilawal condemns ‘illegal war’ on Iran, Middle East tensions could turn into world conflict

04 April, 2026 19:01

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called the war against Iran unlawful and warned that rising tensions in the Middle East could turn into a bigger global conflict.

He was speaking at a gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on the 47th death anniversary of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. During his speech, he expressed concern over recent attacks, including a strike on a school in Iran that killed children, calling it a very tragic incident.

Bilawal criticised the ongoing aggression and said the situation in the region is already dangerous. He added that the effects of the war are not limited to Iran anymore and are being felt around the world, including in Pakistan.

He said war does not solve problems and instead causes the most harm to innocent people. He added that Pakistan and other countries are supporting efforts to bring a ceasefire and restore peace.

“We pray for all those forces, including the Pakistani government, who are working to achieve a ceasefire,” said Bilawal.

Talking about Pakistan’s defence, he said the country’s nuclear strength, started by Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, is a strong protection against outside threats.

“Iran, Lebanon and Syria are under attack, yet the Zionist forces cannot even dare to set their sights on Pakistan,” he said.

Bilawal said his party always supports unity during difficult times and will continue to bring people together.

On local issues, he stressed the need for cooperation between federal and provincial governments to provide relief to the public during economic challenges.

He also announced that the Sindh government is planning a fuel subsidy for private transport to stop fare increases.

This came after Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced relief measures. These include a Rs2,000 subsidy for each registered motorcyclist for April after a big increase in fuel prices.

The package also supports transport. Passenger buses will get Rs100,000 per vehicle per month, two-axle trucks Rs70,000, and heavy trucks Rs80,000 per month. Intra-city buses using more fuel will also receive extra support.
